Volunteering Opportunities

Do you have some time to spare? Do you have skills that could be of use to Richmond AID? Would you like to make a positive contribution to disabled peoples' lives? Then why not become a volunteer for Richmond AID?

As a volunteer, you will receive on-the-job training, guidance and support from our staff as well as the opportunity to gain new skills and experience, and you will be part of a friendly team of staff and volunteers. Anyone can apply but we particularly encourage people with disabilities. If you are interested, then check out the volunteering opportunities below and get in touch with us.

Gardening  Richmond SPADE

We are looking for keen gardeners to help with our new gardening service. If you have green fingers, enjoy being outdoors and have a few hours a week to spare then get in touch with Jackie or Ricky on 020 8831 6070 or e-mail them at SPADE@richmondaid.org.uk. For more information, click here to check out our Richmond SPADE leaflet or click here to see our volunteering poster (both in PDF format).

Open Door   Access Volunteers

Our Access Officer needs volunteers to carry out access surveys of different areas in the borough. These surveys are designed to find out how accessible shops, banks and other public buildings are - these findings are then recorded in a report and published. Surveys are carried out in teams of two and training is provided beforehand. Contact us on 020 8831 6072 or e-mail info@richmondaid.org.uk. You can find more information in our Access leaflet.

Language   Translators

Our Outreach Worker Alice Elliot is looking for volunteers to translate our information into other languages, so it is available to people from any ethnic background. We are looking specifically for people who speak Gujerati, Bengali, Arabic and Punjabi but other languages are necessary too. You can work from home, and once your work is completed we will provide you with a certificate and references. Check out the Translator Volunteer Poster for more information. If you can help then get in touch with Alice on 020 8831 6079 or e-mail her at a.elliott@richmondaid.org.uk.

Advisor   Advisors & Administrators

We are currently looking for volunteers to work on our advice line, and we also need people to help us update our library. Our advisors are the first point of call for clients who call, write or visit us with a range of enquiries on disability. The library is where all this information is kept - it is essential to keep this relevant and up-to-date so people get the best available information. You don't need to have experience as full training will be given but willingness to undertake various tasks and a sense of humour will be useful! Contact Alex Brining on 020 8831 6071 or e-mail him at a.brining@richmondaid.org.uk for further details.
